PRIME 2 WOMEN COMPLEX FULL SPECTRUM MULTIVITAMIN

“Highly complex multivitamin for that daily provision of sustenance”

Why take vitamins and minerals? The average modern diet can be high in fatty, sugary foods, and we tend to eat less than three of the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. How your food is produced can have an impact, too. Modern agricultural practices, storage for long periods and overcooking can all lower the nutritional value of what we eat. Fruit and vegetables are potentially 80% less nutritious now than in the 1940’s, due to mineral-deficient soil.

In addition to this, people who are on restricted diets may be deficient in some vitamins and minerals. The elderly, vegans, vegetarians and children who are fussy eaters have difficulty obtaining the necessary amounts of vitamins and minerals from food alone. Vitamins and mineral supplements do not have an instant effect. You may have to take them for several weeks before you begin to notice any difference in how you feel. Remember that supplements are what their name suggests – they are intended to supplement a healthy diet. They should not replace regular, balanced meals.

Recent scientific studies and reviews of the role nutritional deficiencies play in the development of various diseases are highlighting the role of nutritional supplementation in maintenance of good health

Prime 2 is designed to focus on certain groups of people who are particularly vulnerable to nutritional deficiencies as they may have increased requirements or restricted dietary intakes:

  • Adolescents: Adolescents have increased nutritional requirements during the rapid growth phases, as well as to maintain physical activity. Prime2 will provide this requirement.
  • Chronically ill: Requirements for many nutrients are increased during illnesses due to altered metabolism and possibly restricted nutritional intake.
  • People on chronic medication: Many medicines interfere with the metabolism of a variety of nutrients. Examples include pain killers, antibiotics, laxatives, diuretics, anti-inflammatory medicines, oral contraceptives, cholesterol lowering medicines, antidepressants, medication for high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, TB and AIDS.
  • Pregnant & breastfeeding women: Nutritional requirements are significantly increased for the growth and development of the baby, as well as the maintenance of health and well-being of the mother.
  • Vegans (strict vegetarians): Strict vegetarians may be at risk of developing deficiencies in certain nutrients, including iron and Vitamin B12, as these nutrients are found in concentrated, bio-available concentrations in animal foods.
  • Food allergies or intolerances: Dietary restrictions due to food allergies or intolerances, such as lactose (dairy) intolerance or wheat sensitivities, may result in insufficient intake of essential nutrients.
  • Elderly: The use of chronic medication, restricted dietary intake and decreased absorption of nutrients from foods, resulting from changes in the digestive systems, put the elderly at risk of nutritional deficiencies.
  • Alcohol Dependent People: The following 3 factors increase nutritional requirements of this group:
    • alcohol interferes with the absorption of certain nutrients
    • alcohol metabolism in the liver utilises essential nutrients
    • Alcohol dependent people typically do not consume healthy balanced meals on a daily basis.
